ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE LTD, founded by Thomas M. Trachsel in 1975 in Switzerland, began as a gas producer and distributor, specializing in CO2. Over the years, the company expanded its expertise, evolving into specialists in dry ice and plant construction. In 1987, ASCO acquired Carbonic Industries Ltd, marking the beginning of its international expansion, with the company later becoming ASCO New Zealand. In 2005, ASCO acquired Diffusion Hydraulique S.A.R.L., which became ASCO France. The company joined the Messer Group in 2007, further strengthening its global reach. In 2011, ASCO acquired Remco in Switzerland, a production site for dry ice and blasting machines. In 2014, ASCO merged with BUSE Gastek, consolidating over 130 years of combined experience in CO2 and dry ice technology. ASCO further expanded in North America in 2016 with the founding of ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE INC. In 2020, the company introduced digitalization to its pelletizers, offering production and machine data through a customer platform, alongside remote support and monitoring. In 2024, ASCO relocated its headquarters within Switzerland from Romanshorn to Wittenbach, marking another milestone in its ongoing growth.
