Hiden Isochema is a global leader in the design and manufacture of gas and vapor sorption instrumentation, serving research, development, and production applications in surface chemistry and materials science. The company originated from the Department of Physics and Space Research at the University of Birmingham, where the first Intelligent Gravimetric Analyzer (IGA) was developed. This pioneering technology, funded by the UK Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), led to the commercialization of the IGA in 1989. From 1992, Hiden Analytical Ltd took over the manufacturing and expansion of the IGA range, establishing a full product lineup. The company continued its growth with the introduction of the IGAsorp, a dedicated water sorption analyzer, in the late 1990s.

In 2002, Hiden Isochema Ltd was formed to specialize further in sorption-specific instrumentation. The company’s ongoing success led to the construction of new purpose-built headquarters in Warrington, England, in 2013. Today, Hiden Isochema is part of the Hiden Instruments Group and boasts a global network of sales agents and representatives.

Over the years, Hiden Isochema has expanded its product offerings to include high-pressure gravimetric (XEMIS) and manometric (IMI) sorption analyzers, breakthrough (ABR) and membrane permeation (MBR) analyzers, and climate control systems (XCS). Its instruments are trusted by leading academic and industrial research laboratories, universities, and R&D centers worldwide.
