The 4D-Nucleofector® system: customised transfection for cell research
Lonza's 4D-Nucleofector® system is an electroporation transfection device designed for cutting-edge scientific research. Designed for maximum flexibility, it is based on a modular architecture that allows up to three functional units to be combined with a single central unit. Each unit is dedicated to a specific application: the X Unit for conventional or strip formats, the Y Unit for adherent cells, the 96-well Unit for medium-density screening, and the LV Unit for volumes of up to one billion cells per reaction.
The system features an 8-inch touchscreen for access to simple, comprehensive software. Users can easily define a protocol, load samples, start the experiment and view results via a clear graphical interface. One of the major advantages of the 4D-Nucleofector® is its compatibility with more than 325 different cell types thanks to an integrated database and pre-established protocols optimised by Lonza's R&D team.
The system works with specially designed cuvettes free of toxic metal ions and can transfect a wide variety of substrates, including plasmid DNA, RNA, peptides and more. Each experiment is fully customisable using pulse codes and specific solutions. The device also offers protocol backup and transfer options via USB stick, while ensuring user safety with enhanced electrical protections and automatic system locking for transport.
Ideal for generating stable clones, expressing proteins, or conducting overexpression and gene silencing studies, the 4D-Nucleofector® is designed to meet the growing demands of cell research laboratories. Although not intended for clinical or diagnostic use, it is a powerful tool for in vitro experimentation in basic and applied research.
