The Watson-Marlow 603S/R peristaltic pump is designed to provide an efficient and accurate fluid transfer solution in industrial, pharmaceutical and laboratory environments. Thanks to its DC motor and integrated speed controller, it allows fine regulation of the flow rate, ranging from 8 to 165 revolutions per minute. This extended speed range ensures maximum flexibility for pumping liquids of varying viscosity, while maintaining low wear on internal components. The digital control system displays the actual motor speed, making it easy to adjust and monitor performance.
The 603R pump head, equipped with two spring-loaded rollers, automatically compensates for variations in tube thickness, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. This mechanism ensures constant occlusion, optimising tube life and flow accuracy. Tube loading is facilitated by an ergonomic clamping system, and the head is equipped with a safety switch that cuts off power when the cover is open, ensuring maximum user protection.
Tubular compatibility and energy efficiency
The 603S/R model accepts a wide range of tubing with internal diameters ranging from 4.8 mm to 15.9 mm and a standard wall thickness of 3.2 mm. It is compatible with materials such as Marprene, Bioprene, Silicone, Neoprene, Butyl, Tygon and Viton, allowing optimal adaptation to corrosive, biological or sensitive fluids. The choice of tubing directly affects the flow rate, which can reach up to 11 litres per minute with the largest diameters.
The pump is designed to operate in ambient conditions of 5 to 40°C, with a storage tolerance ranging from -40 to 70°C. It consumes a maximum of 250 VA and is equipped with a 5 A surge protection fuse. Its quiet operation (<70 dBA at 1 metre) and low maintenance requirements make it an ideal choice for regulated environments. The motor brushes must be inspected every 3,000 hours of operation, but wear is minimal thanks to the integrated rear commutation.
Regulatory compliance and simplified maintenance
The Watson-Marlow 603S/R complies with European directives on machinery (89/392/EEC), low voltage (73/23/EEC) and electromagnetic compatibility (89/336/EEC). It also meets IEC335-1 and EN60529 (IP31) standards, ensuring optimum electrical and mechanical safety. Its 16 kg weight and compact design make it easy to integrate into existing installations or automated systems.
Maintenance of the pump is quick and easy. The moving parts of the rotor can be lubricated occasionally with light oil, and cleaning can be carried out using a damp cloth and mild detergent. In the event of contact with hazardous liquids, a decontamination protocol is provided, including a certificate to be attached when returning the equipment. The rotor and pump head are easy to dismantle thanks to an accessible collar and fixing screw system.
