The 7900HT system: a benchmark in quantitative amplification
The Applied Biosystems 7900HT is designed to meet the demanding requirements of real-time nucleic acid quantification in research environments. This real-time PCR system offers remarkable flexibility thanks to its interchangeable blocks, allowing you to process 96-well and 384-well plates, as well as TaqMan® Array microfluidic cards for simultaneous analysis of hundreds of targets. The system also supports accelerated formats, significantly reducing reaction times: approximately 35 minutes for 96 wells and less than 55 minutes for 384 wells.
At the heart of the 7900HT is a 488 nm argon-ion laser source, which ensures reliable and homogeneous excitation across all sample positions. The emitted fluorescence is captured by a CCD camera after passing through a spectrograph, enabling continuous detection in the 500 to 660 nm range. This feature allows the simultaneous use of multiple fluorophores, enhancing multiplex analysis capabilities and optimising complex molecular genetics projects.
Designed to adapt to high-throughput environments, the system is compatible with a specific automation accessory using a Zymark Twister® robot. This allows uninterrupted operation for 24 hours, with automatic loading and unloading of multiple plates, while reducing the handling error rate to less than 1%. This level of autonomy improves laboratory productivity while reducing manual intervention.
In terms of software, the 7900HT offers high-performance solutions: the Standard Edition for everyday applications and the Enterprise Edition to meet 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements, including secure data management, electronic signatures andoperation auditing. These tools facilitate the management of large-scale studies, particularly in SNP genotyping and gene expression analysis.
Whether for absolute quantification, relative quantification, allele discrimination or sample purity monitoring, the 7900HT is a robust and scalable solution. With its detection performance starting at 10 gene copies and its wide range of applications, it is an essential asset in modern molecular biology laboratories.
