Ideal for demanding applications in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals or food processing.

Description

Absolute moisture determination with the Metrohm 851 Titrando

The 851 Titrando is a coulometric titration instrument developed by Metrohm for determining water using the Karl Fischer method. This state-of-the-art modular system is based on an open and flexible design, suitable for demanding laboratories that require precision, reliability and automation. It can be operated via a touch screen (Touch Control) or using the tiamo PC software, making it both intuitive and powerful.

At the heart of the system is electrochemical iodine generation, ensuring a direct reaction with the water present in the sample. The strict link between the electrical charge consumed and the amount of water analysed gives the 851 Titrando exceptional accuracy without the need for a titrated solution or predefined titration. This titrator is therefore perfectly suited to absolute measurements of water content in ranges from a few micrograms to several milligrams.

The 851 Titrando allows coulometric analysis of liquids, solids and gases when equipped with suitable accessories such as a Karl Fischer oven (KF oven) or an automated sample changer. It accepts electrodes with or without diaphragms, making it suitable for simple or complex matrices, and even heavily contaminated samples.

Its measurement interface includes specific inputs for the generator and indicator electrodes, as well as for a temperature sensor (Pt1000 or NTC), ensuring precise control of the titration conditions. Its extensive connectivity (USB and MSB) facilitates the integration of balances, printers, barcode readers, dosing devices and robotic systems, ensuring perfect adaptability to laboratory automation requirements.

In addition to its robustness, the 851 Titrando is easy to maintain and diagnose, with test and self-check functions when switched on. It is designed with sustainability in mind, with electrical safety in accordance with IEC 61010 and compliance with European directives on electronic waste (WEEE).

Whether analysing solvents, oils, plastics, pharmaceutical powders or food samples, the 851 Titrando delivers fast, reliable results while reducing handling errors through the automation of critical tasks. This device embodies Swiss engineering excellence applied to analytical chemistry.
