The AC2-6E8 enclosure, a high-performance safety solution for sensitive environments
The AC2-6E8 from Esco Lifesciences is a Class II microbiological safety cabinet designed to provide the best possible protection for the operator, the product being handled and the laboratory environment. With a working width of 1.8 metres, it is specifically suited to laboratories handling biosafety level 1, 2 or 3 pathogens and fits easily into demanding workspaces thanks to its compact design and low noise level. This model embodies excellence in filtration performance, energy efficiency and ergonomic comfort.
The AC2-6E8 enclosure is based on a dynamic double air barrier that guides the incoming and downward air flow through ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) filters, which are 99.999% efficient for particles ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 microns, far exceeding the performance of standard HEPA filters. This filtration capacity maintains an ISO Class 3 certified work area, ensuring a cross-contamination-free environment.
Thanks to its direct current ECM motor, the AC2-6E8 is up to 70% more energy efficient than a traditional AC motor system. A "Night Setback" mode reduces energy consumption by an additional 60% outside of operating hours. The Sentinel™ Gold controller provides real-time monitoring of airflow speeds and displays all essential safety information on an easy-to-read , tilted LCD screen . Visual and audible alarms warn of any deviations from critical parameters, enhancing user safety.
The work surface is raised by stainless steel armrests designed for optimal comfort during prolonged use. The transparent tempered glass side walls improve visibility and reduce the feeling of confinement, a significant advantage in intensive working environments.
Safety is enhanced by a construction with negative pressure side walls and an optimised air flow management system. The enclosure also features an RS232 interface and a zero volt relay for integration into building management systems (BMS). High-intensity LED lamps provide uniform 1400 lux illumination without heating the work area, while a programmable timer extends the life of the optional UV lamp.
Certified to international standards (EN 12469, ISO 14644.1, EN 1822, UL 61010-1, among others), the AC2-6E8 is rigorously factory tested for performance in terms of airflow velocity, filtration integrity, electrical safety and microbiological containment.
