AC2-4S1 Biological Safety Cabinet: Certified performance for demanding environments
The Airstream® AC2-4S1 is a Class II biological safety cabinet developed by Esco, designed to meet the strict requirements of modern laboratories. It is certified to EN12469:2000, ensuring full compliance with European standards for microbiological safety. This model is particularly suitable for handling biological agents of biosafety levels 1, 2 and 3, offering triple protection: for the operator, the product and the environment.
Thanks to mini-pleat ULPA filtration technology, this hood achieves a typical efficiency of 99.9998% at the most penetrating particle size (MPPS), surpassing the performance of conventional HEPA filters. The air circulation system ensures ISO Class 3 cleanliness in the work area, which is 100 times cleaner than the usual Class 100 standards.
Ergonomic design and robust construction
The AC2-4S1 model stands out for its design, which is focused on user comfort and safety. The 173 mm access opening allows for easy handling, while the rounded front frame eliminates pressure points on the arms. The 304-grade stainless steel work surface is corrosion-resistant, easy to clean and designed without hard-to-reach joints.
The main structure is made of 1.5 mm thick electro-galvanised steel, coated with a chemical-resistant thermosetting epoxy coating. All components are mounted on a welded and reinforced metal frame, ensuring perfect sealing and increased durability.
The blower system uses a proprietary inverted curve motor, reducing noise levels (<60 dBA) and vibration while optimising airflow uniformity. This self-balancing design eliminates the need for internal adjustments and maintains airflow ratios throughout the life of the filters.
Intelligent control and simplified maintenance
The AC2-4S1 is equipped with the Sentinel™ microprocessor control system, allowing intuitive management of the hood's functions. Inflow and downflow speeds are continuously displayed on the LCD screen, and visual and audible alarms alert the user in the event of hazardous conditions. A UV interlock system prevents accidental exposure to UV light.
Maintenance is facilitated by a hinged access panel, allowing access to electrical components without moving the unit. All removable parts can be removed without tools, and a tool kit is supplied with each hood. The integrated aerosol sampling port allows filters to be tested using the aerosol challenge method.
