Allegra X-12R Centrifuge: performance and safety for demanding laboratories
The Allegra X-12R centrifuge is a refrigerated benchtop model designed by Beckman Coulter to meet the needs of research and diagnostic laboratories. It generates high centrifugal forces for a wide range of applications, including sample preparation, cell separation, protein concentration, binding studies and column centrifugation. Thanks to its brushless asynchronous motor and microprocessor control system, it guarantees quiet, precise and safe operation.
The integrated refrigeration system maintains an operating temperature between -10°C and +40°C, ensuring thermal stability for sensitive samples. A sensor in the rotor chamber continuously monitors the temperature, and the microprocessor automatically adjusts the parameters to achieve the required thermal equilibrium. This control is essential to prevent samples from overheating, particularly during long centrifugation runs or when handling heat-sensitive substances.
Enhanced safety for risk-free use
Safety is at the heart of the Allegra X-12R's design. It is equipped with an electromechanical door locking system that prevents the door from being opened while the rotor is rotating. In the event of a power failure, a manual device allows the door to be released so that samples can be retrieved. An imbalance detector monitors the stability of the rotor and automatically stops operation in the event of significant imbalance, reducing the risk of mechanical damage or injury.
The rotor chamber is surrounded by a steel barrier for maximum user protection. The automatic rotor identification system prevents the maximum speed for each model from being exceeded, ensuring safe centrifugation in accordance with specifications.
Intuitive interface and customised control
The control panel is tilted at the front of the unit for optimal visibility and intuitive navigation. The user can enter the operating parameters via dedicated keys: speed (RPM or RCF), time, temperature, acceleration and deceleration rates. Ten acceleration levels and eleven deceleration levels are available to adapt the centrifugation to specific requirements, particularly to preserve delicate gradients.
The memory function allows up to ten customised programmes to be saved, facilitating the repetition of protocols. A "pulse" function also allows rapid centrifugation at maximum speed, useful for instant separations.
