The Varian 920-LC is a fully integrated analytical HPLC system, factory pre-configured and tested. The 920-LC delivers outstanding performance through its dual-piston solvent delivery system, ensuring virtually pulse-free flow and highly reproducible gradients. Accurate mobile phase mixing enhances result fidelity without requiring premixed solvents. The integrated degasser improves flow stability and significantly reduces detector noise.
The built-in autosampler increases productivity by automating sample introduction. It accommodates up to 200 vials (2 mL) or three 96-well plates. The external needle wash between injections minimizes carryover, ensuring reliable results even for low-concentration samples.
Multiple detector modules are available, including UV-Vis, PDA (diode array), fluorescence, refractive index (RI), and evaporative light scattering (ELS). For example, the UV-Vis detector offers an excellent signal-to-noise ratio and supports a broad wavelength range (190 to 900 nm for PDA version), with time-programmed wavelength control for optimized detection.
Thanks to its temperature-controlled column compartment and low-volume preheater, thermal stability is ensured for enhanced retention time reproducibility. These features are essential for regulated environments or the analysis of thermosensitive compounds.
