Surgical Control at the Foot with the VAPR 3 Wired Foot Pedal
The VAPR 3 wired foot control developed by Mitek is designed to provide precise and smooth control of the VAPR VUE electrosurgical generator during arthroscopic procedures. Its design is based on three separate pedals that allow for differentiated activation of the generator's functions, while keeping the hands free and maintaining the sterility of the surgical field.
The pedal's ergonomic design meets the requirements of a demanding surgical environment. Each area is clearly identified by a specific colour, allowing the practitioner to immediately distinguish the desired function without risk of error. The yellow pedal is used to activate the various ablation modes, such as standard vaporisation, COOLPULSE mode or combined vaporisation modes. The blue pedal is dedicated to coagulation, allowing effective control of tissue haemostasis. The third pedal, which is black, has a special role. Not only does it reset the generator in the event of an alarm or fault, but when held down for two seconds, it also allows the ablation power to be adjusted. Once this mode is activated, the practitioner can increase or decrease the power directly using the other two foot controls, without touching the generator interface.
This allows for continuous operation without breaking concentration or having to manipulate manual controls during the procedure. This is a real advantage in long or complex procedures, where fluidity and responsiveness are essential. The VAPR 3 foot pedal connects easily to the front of the generator via a dedicated socket. Once connected, an indicator light confirms that the connection is active and that the foot control is operational. Each time the foot pedal is activated, an audible signal is emitted, providing immediate auditory feedback to enhance safety.
Manufactured to withstand intensive use in the operating theatre, this foot pedal rests firmly on the floor thanks to its non-slip base. It requires no complex maintenance, but should be cleaned with non-abrasive products, without immersion or sterilisation. It is exclusively for use with the Mitek VAPR VUE generator, with which it forms a coherent and safe system, suitable for modern arthroscopic practices.
