The MELAG Type 15: a compact and efficient solution for steam sterilisation
The MELAG Type 15 autoclave is a steam sterilisation device specially designed for healthcare facilities looking for reliable, compact and easy-to-maintain equipment. Whether in a medical or dental practice or in a laboratory, this model offers optimal performance in a small format, without compromising on safety or efficiency.
With a cylindrical stainless steel sterilisation chamber measuring 15 cm in diameter and 38 cm in depth, the Type 15 can hold up to 2 kg of material. The interior design prevents rust formation, with all parts in contact with steam made from stainless materials: stainless steel chamber, copper piping, chrome-plated brass or stainless steel supports, and anodised aluminium trays.
The user can choose between two sterilisation programmes: 1 bar (121 °C) for textiles or sensitive materials, or 2 bar (134 °C) for metal or glass instruments . Each cycle lasts 50 or 30 minutes respectively, and the recommended interval between cycles is 30 minutes to prevent overheating due to residual heat in the chamber.
The appliance is easy to use thanks to its adjustable timer, pressure selection button, power and heating indicator lights, and pressure gauge. A rapid decompression function reduces waiting time at the end of the cycle, making it easier to dry instruments. For optimal drying, the user is advised to open the door slightly at the end of the cycle to take advantage of the residual heat in the chamber.
The water tank (capacity: 3 litres) must be filled with distilled water only to prevent limescale deposits that could impair the proper functioning of the safety valve, cooling coil or steam nozzles. Weekly maintenance of the chamber is recommended, as well as monthly replacement of the distilled water.
User safety is ensured by a calibrated pressure relief valve, a reinforced door locking system and overheating protection. The appliance is designed to be stable, thanks to its adjustable feet that allow for perfect levelling for optimal performance.
Reliable, durable and requiring little maintenance, the Type 15 allows up to 8 sterilisation cycles per day. It is a versatile device that perfectly meets the daily needs of healthcare professionals, while complying with the technical and regulatory requirements of steam sterilisation.
