Description

MELAG Type 17: A compact, high-performance autoclave for effective daily sterilisation

The MELAG Type 17 autoclave is a high-end steam sterilisation device designed specifically for healthcare professionals looking for a reliable, compact and easy-to-use solution for sterilising their medical instruments. Whether in a doctor's office, dental clinic or laboratory, the Type 17 meets daily sterilisation requirements while ensuring staff safety and optimal preservation of the treated equipment.

This model features a cylindrical stainless steel sterilisation chamber, 18 cm in diameter and 38 cm deep, allowing a maximum load capacity of 3 kg of instruments or 200 g of textiles. Thanks to two pre-configured sterilisation programmes – one at 1 bar for textiles and delicate materials at 121°C, and another at 2 bars for metal or glass instruments at 134°C – the user can adapt the cycle to the type of load, ensuring effective sterilisation without compromising the integrity of the materials.

The Type 17 operates using distilled water, consuming 300 cm³ per cycle, and has an electronic temperature and pressure control system to ensure uniform sterilisation. The process is fully automated: once the parameters have been set, the operator can start the cycle and let the device manage the temperature rise, sterilisation, depressurisation and cooling. An end-of-cycle indicator and a quick depressurisation button ensure safe handling.

Maintenance of the MELAG Type 17 is facilitated by easily accessible and removable components, such as the water tank (approx. 3 litres), filters and pressure relief nozzle. The device is also equipped with several safety features: a calibrated safety valve, an overpressure valve, overheating protection and a power supply indicator light. Its user-friendly interface includes a dual-needle pressure gauge, a thermostat, a timer and indicator lights.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials (copper, chrome-plated brass, stainless steel, anodised aluminium), the Type 17 guarantees sterilisation without the risk of rust. Weekly cleaning of the tank and monthly replacement of the distilled water are recommended to extend its service life. In addition, its compact size allows for easy installation on a standard worktop while offering a capacity suited to everyday needs.
