EZ1 Advanced XL: Reliable Automation for Nucleic Acid Purification
The EZ1 Advanced XL is an automated purification system designed for laboratories seeking speed, reliability, and standardization in the processing of biological samples.
An enhancement of Qiagen’s EZ1 product line, this model expands the sample capacity of the previous EZ1 Advanced system, enabling the simultaneous processing of up to 14 samples in under 20 minutes.
This system enables the extraction of genomic DNA, total RNA, or viral nucleic acids from a wide variety of sample types, including blood, tissues, cultured cells, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), urine, and respiratory specimens. It uses pre-filled, sealed cartridges, reducing the risk of human error and cross-contamination. Protocols are selected easily via a dedicated card inserted into the system’s reader—no manual programming required.
The instrument features a VFD display for clear information readout, a secure door sensor, and a built-in UV lamp for effective decontamination between runs. This UV lamp has been proven effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. At the end of each run, the system automatically generates PDF and CSV reports, providing full traceability, including reagent lot numbers and expiration dates, with LIMS compatibility for seamless integration into laboratory information systems.
Designed for flexible workflow integration, the EZ1 Advanced XL can be connected to a computer and run in parallel with up to four instruments, allowing throughput to scale up to 56 samples per cycle. It is ideally suited for genetic research, forensic analysis, hospital laboratories, and research projects requiring efficient mid-throughput sample processing.
