Hill-Rom® AvantGuard™ 1600 bed: a smart solution for demanding care
The AvantGuard™ 1600 hospital bed from Hill-Rom® has been specially designed to support healthcare professionals in a complex and constantly changing hospital environment. Thanks to its ergonomic design, this bed becomes a true partner in everyday life, combining patient comfort, safety and clinical efficiency.
Every detail of the AvantGuard™ 1600 has been designed to optimise care, from precise patient positioning to intra-hospital transport management. It incorporates several control units – integrated panels, remote controls for nursing staff or patients, flexible arm – allowing quick and easy activation of the bed's motorised functions. These controls are strategically located (foot of the bed, side rails, flexible arm) for intuitive and safe operation. An activation button locks or unlocks the functions, ensuring safe use, especially with agitated patients.
Patient positioning is made easier by hip indicators, which align the trochanter with the head of the bed for optimal comfort and less repositioning. The bed is also equipped with an integrated extension (+18 cm) to accommodate tall patients.
In terms of safety, the bed is equipped with Mobility-Guard side rails, which are articulated with the frame to ensure constant protection, even in a sitting position. These rails can be adjusted to three heights, allowing safe exit from the bed or easy transfer to a stretcher. The bed also has a low position indicator (to reduce injuries in the event of a fall) and, as an option, an audible signal when the brakes are disengaged, ensuring complete immobilisation before any care or transfer.
The electric adjustment system allows precise customisation of the patient's position. The backrest is adjustable with an integrated angle indicator on the side rails, facilitating the application of clinical protocols (e.g. 30°-45° for the prevention of pneumonia). The knee section can be adjusted independently to prevent slipping and increase comfort. By holding down the lift button, the vascular position can be activated, raising the legs to improve venous return.
The EasyChair™ option allows the patient to be placed in a sitting position at the touch of a button via a coordination of seven movements. This position improves morale, respiratory and cardiovascular comfort, and promotes recovery. It is complemented by electric leg adjustment, reducing pressure points.
In an emergency, the Trendelenburg and anti-Trendelenburg functions are also accessible via the side controls. These allow the bed surface to be quickly tilted to redistribute pressure or respond to specific clinical situations.
Finally, the AvantGuard™ 1600 bed includes features such as integrated patient weighing, compatibility with chest X-rays, and an automated supine position for clinical situations requiring full upright or flat positioning.
The AvantGuard™ 1600 bed is positioned as a central device in acute care, rehabilitation or internal medicine departments, offering intuitive, safe and nurse-patient experience-focused features.
