Basic 3.1 Atys Medical – Portable peripheral vascular diagnostic system
The Basic 3.1 from Atys Medical is a vascular diagnostic device designed to meet the needs of clinicians in the comprehensive assessment of peripheral circulation. Specially adapted for screening, monitoring and exploring arterial and venous pathologies, it integrates Doppler, photo-plethysmographic and automated systolic pressure measurement functions. Its compact size and ergonomic design allow it to be used in the doctor's office, at the patient's bedside or on the go.
The device offers a 4 and 8 MHz bidirectional Doppler, capable of accurately analysing arterial and venous flow. Signals are displayed as real-time colour spectra with high definition, allowing clear identification of flow morphology. Sound output via two integrated speakers or a stereo headset clearly differentiates between antegrade and retrograde components, facilitating clinical interpretation. Haemodynamic parameters such as systolic velocity, diastolic velocity, mean velocity, heart rate and various indices (RI, PI, S/D) are displayed instantly.
The bilateral photoplethysmography function allows simultaneous recording of digital arterial waves and diagnosis of venous insufficiency (optional). This technology complements Doppler by providing non-invasive and reliable analysis of blood volume variations in the extremities. Combined with automatic systolic pressure measurement, it allows direct and accurate calculation of the ankle-brachial index (ABI) and, for other models, the tibiobrachial index (TBI).
The Basic 3.1 stands out thanks to its integrated automatic pressure measurement system, which operates with an on-board pump and controlled solenoid valves. The cuffs are inflated and deflated fully automatically, and the return of the pulse is automatically detected and marked. The measured pressures can be adjusted manually if necessary, and the results are immediately used to calculate the vascular indices. The data is stored in the internal memory and can be exported in ODT, PDF or CSV format for integration into a patient file or for further analysis.
The user interface is based on a high-resolution 7" colour touchscreen, providing a clear display of curves and spectra. The examination protocols are configurable, allowing the measurement sequences to be adapted to the user's habits or specific patient requirements. Comprehensive, colour-illustrated examination reports can be printed directly from the device or transferred to a PC via a network or USB connection.
Thanks to its internal rechargeable battery, the Basic 3.1 ensures optimal mobility. It can be used on a dedicated trolley for added convenience, or simply carried by hand using its integrated handle. Its robust design and small footprint make it ideal for environments where space is limited.
Designed for angiologists, phlebologists, cardiologists and diabetologists, the Basic 3.1 is a reliable and versatile tool for the management of patients with peripheral vascular disorders. Whether for screening for peripheral artery disease, assessing leg ulcers, monitoring diabetic feet or analysing venous insufficiency, it provides accurate and reproducible measurements, contributing to an informed diagnosis and optimal care.
