BioFlo 320 – Universal bioprocess control system for cell culture and microbiology
The Eppendorf BioFlo 320 is a versatile benchtop bioreactor system designed to meet the requirements of research, process development and clinical or commercial production. It stands out for its ability to provide precise and reliable control of cell cultures and microbial fermentations, while offering great flexibility of use and a wide range of working volumes, from 400 mL to 40 L. This versatility makes it an ideal solution for academic laboratories, pilot production units and industrial facilities.
Thanks to its modular architecture and robust stainless steel design, the BioFlo 320 can be easily integrated into different working environments. It can handle suspended or adherent cultures under aerobic, microaerobic or anaerobic conditions. It supports various operating modes, such as batch, fed-batch, continuous and perfusion, ensuring optimal adaptation to the specific requirements of each process.
The system has a 15-inch touchscreen display providing a user-friendly interface for monitoring and controlling critical parameters. Up to eight units can be controlled from a single workstation thanks to Ethernet communication and DASware software solutions, which are compatible with 21 CFR Part 11 and EuGMP regulatory standards. Integration with the BioNsight cloud facilitates the comparison and analysis of data from different trials or sites, promoting continuous process optimisation.
The BioFlo 320's intelligent design includes an automatic calibration system for dissolved oxygen probes, reducing preparation time and ensuring measurement consistency. Its integrated variable or fixed pumps and configurable mass flow controllers allow precise control of aeration, agitation and substrate additions. Compatible bioreactors include both autoclavable glass vessels and BioBLU single-use bioreactors, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and cleaning times.
Its compact footprint maximises laboratory space utilisation, while its universal connections for analogue or digital sensors simplify the installation and replacement of measuring instruments. The system also includes specific software tools, such as Scale Up Assist, which calculates the essential parameters for efficient scale-up from laboratory to production, thereby reducing the risks associated with scale-up.
The BioFlo 320 is particularly suitable for the production of biomolecules, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, viral vectors, plasmids and stem cells. It is a reliable platform for process development and standardisation, offering users total control, increased flexibility and seamless integration into GMP-compliant environments.
