The Tomey AL-2000 biometer/pachymeter, FDA-approved, revolutionizes medical technology. Compact, precise, and equipped with an IOL power calculator, it offers a multitude of measurement options and generous storage space.
The AL-2000 combines two essential measurement devices and an intraocular lens (IOL) power calculator into a compact, user-friendly, precise device with considerable data storage capacity.
The biometer of the AL-2000 offers several essential features. It can measure axial lengths from 15 to 40 mm with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 mm and a resolution of 0.01 mm. The anterior chamber depth can range from 2 to 7 mm, while the lens thickness can vary from 2 to 6 mm. For maximum accuracy, the AL-2000 calculates the average value of up to 10 measurements. Additionally, the AL-2000 offers great convenience with its integrated fixation light.
The instrument emits a series of beeps to indicate when the probe is aligned and, in automatic mode, to inform you that multiple measurements have been recorded. Additionally, detailed waveforms can be displayed on the screen when using the biometry probe.
The AL-2000 offers several options for users, including the ability to take measurements in contact or immersion mode, as well as normal, aphakic, pseudophakic, or dense cataract modes. Measurements can be taken automatically or by pressing a pedal. In manual mode, you have control over the number and timing of measurements. The probe can be handheld or used with the patient in a chin-up position.
Once you have collected your data, the AL-2000 can calculate the appropriate power of the intraocular lens using five of the most popular formulas: SRK II, SRK/T, Holladay, Haigis Standard, and Haigis Optimized. The AL-2000 can also display up to three lens constants and corresponding IOL powers, allowing you to develop effective strategies for future surgical procedures. The device stores all relevant information for up to 10 different lens models.
Like the biometer, the AL-2000's pachymeter offers several advantages. It measures corneal thickness from 150 to 1,500 microns, with an accuracy of +/- 5 microns and a resolution of 1 micron. The pachymetry probe is designed with a 45-degree angled tip to facilitate measurements. Multiple user options include measuring corneal thickness in single or multiple mode, with the ability to map up to 25 locations across the cornea. You can take these measurements automatically or manually using the pedal.
The AL-2000 also makes accessing all tools and options, as well as managing resulting data, easy. Its high-resolution touch screen offers a simple user interface that allows quick access to all available programs. You can print data, including numbers, graphs, and wave diagrams, using the built-in thermal printer. The AL-2000 comes with a PC memory card that can store data from up to 237 patients, allowing for statistical analysis and future reference. Once you have accumulated enough patient data on your memory card, the AL-2000 can calculate your surgeon factor.
