Biplanar™ 500e – Uncompromising biplane surgical imaging
Swemac's Biplanar™ 500e represents a major advance in mobile surgical imaging. Designed to meet the most stringent requirements of orthopaedic, trauma and spinal surgery, this innovative system offers simultaneous visualisation in two orthogonal planes – anterior-posterior (AP) and lateral – without the need for rotation or repositioning of the equipment.
This unique capability is made possible by its symmetrical G-arm support, which consists of two independent imaging systems. The surgeon can switch between views using a multifunction foot pedal, while the images are displayed on two high-resolution monitors. This configuration allows for increased precision, a significant reduction in operating time, and decreased radiation exposure for the patient and medical staff.
The Biplanar™ 500e integrates seamlessly into the surgical workflow. Its fixed position during the procedure ensures optimal sterility, facilitated by simple and effective draping. This stability eliminates unwanted interruptions, allowing the surgeon to focus fully on the surgical procedure.
Since its launch, more than 1,000 surgeons have been using the Biplanar™ regularly for hip, tibia, knee and spine procedures. With more than 100,000 procedures performed annually and more than two million surgeries performed in 18 countries, the Biplanar™ 500e has become an indispensable tool in modern operating theatres.
Manufactured in Sweden, this system embodies Scandinavian excellence in medical technology. It is the result of decades of innovation, beginning with the first mobile G-arm introduced by Swemac in 1974. The Biplanar™ 500e continues this tradition by offering a reliable, ergonomic and high-performance solution.
The Biplanar™ 500e is much more than just an imaging device: it is a surgical partner that improves the quality of care, optimises hospital resources and enhances patient safety.
