Spacelabs 990: Ventilation technology for personalised care
The Spacelabs 990 is designed to meet modern clinical requirements for anaesthetic ventilation. It supports adult, paediatric and neonatal patients with remarkable accuracy thanks to dynamic compliance and fresh gas compensation. This technology allows continuous adaptation to physiological changes in the patient, ensuring effective and safe ventilation.
The Spacelabs 990 ventilator offers volume control, pressure control, SIMV with pressure support, and pressure support. These modes are optimised by active proportional inspiratory and expiratory flow valves, ensuring accurate delivery of the set parameters. The 990 model also introduces Precision Pressure Control Ventilation™(PPCV™), which allows ventilation at a target pressure while compensating for compliance variations in real time. This approach reduces the risk of overpressure and improves gas exchange.
Intuitive user interface and comprehensive monitoring
The Spacelabs 990 user interface combines an 8.4" colour screen with Touch and Trak™ navigation, providing quick access to settings and monitoring data. Users can programme up to 14 customised screen configurations, optimising clinical efficiency and familiarity with the device.
Respiratory monitoring is comprehensive: the ventilator measures oxygen, inspired and expired volumes, airway pressure (PAW), pressure and flow curves, and spirometry loops. This data is displayed in real time and can be recorded for comparative analysis. The system also provides a clear view of patient effort in Advanced Pressure Support™ (AdPSV™) mode, where the breathing cycle is entirely determined by the patient.
Alarms are configurable according to desired clinical thresholds, with alerts for pressure, minute volume, respiratory rate and oxygen levels. Static alarms are also integrated to detect sensor errors, power failures, pressure faults and setting anomalies.
Reliability, scalability and low cost of ownership
The Spacelabs 990 is part of the Blease900 series, which offers three scalable models compatible with the BleaseFocus and BleaseSirius platforms. This modularity allows for growth tailored to the needs of the facility, while maintaining technological consistency.
Maintenance is kept to a minimum thanks to automatic leak and compliance tests, which take less than a minute to complete. The ventilator requires few replacement parts, reducing the total cost of ownership. Certified to ISO 13485 and compliant with SGS/UKAS standards, the 990 model embodies reliability and innovation in healthcare.
