ABL800 FLEX: Accuracy and Simplicity for Blood Gas Analysis
The ABL800 FLEX analyzer from Radiometer stands out for its ability to meet the demands of modern laboratories, particularly in critical care or emergency settings where speed and result reliability are essential. Designed to analyze blood gases, electrolytes, metabolites, and the full range of CO-oximetry parameters, it optimizes workflow while maintaining a high level of analytical quality.
One of the key strengths of the ABL800 FLEX is its automated sample handling, particularly through the FLEXQ module. This feature allows for the automatic mixing and measurement of up to three consecutive samples, with a queue system that reduces error risks and enhances throughput. Ease of use is reinforced by a customizable color touchscreen interface, with integrated tutorials and onboard help features, making it easy to use even for less experienced staff.
The analyzer is especially well-suited to high-volume laboratories thanks to its micromethod mode. It delivers reliable results from very small capillary samples—as little as 35 µL—without compromising quality. This high accuracy with minimal sample volume is made possible by the FLEXMODE system, which automatically adjusts measured parameters based on the available volume.
In terms of analytical performance, the ABL800 FLEX relies on a technology that uses 128 wavelengths for spectral analysis, enabling comprehensive CO-oximetry quality. This continuous spectrum allows for detection and correction of interferences caused by clinically significant substances such as dyes, bilirubin, HbF, and certain lipids. Results for glucose, lactate, and creatinine are also protected against chemical interference through multilayer filtering membranes.
Automation is also present in quality control, with built-in procedures ensuring traceability and measurement reliability. The system can be fully monitored remotely, notably through the RADIANCE platform, which simplifies maintenance and minimizes downtime. Full connectivity with hospital information systems (LIS/HIS), including POCT1-A protocols, ensures immediate and secure result transmission to patient records, monitors, or clinical servers.
The 1st automatic function allows for automatic sample-to-patient matching at the bedside via coded samplers and FLEXLINK software. Each result is thus automatically matched to the correct patient, eliminating the risk of mix-ups.
With the ABL800 FLEX, Radiometer offers a comprehensive, reliable, and user-friendly analysis system designed to seamlessly integrate into healthcare workflows and improve responsiveness in patient care.
