BSC-1500IIIX from Biobase – Class III microbiological safety cabinet for total containment in P3 and P4 laboratories
The Biobase BSC-1500IIIX is specially designed to meet the most stringent biological safety requirements in laboratories handling high-risk pathogens. Its fully enclosed, gas-tight enclosure ensures that the substances being handled cannot be released into the environment, providing maximum protection for the operator, the sample and the environment. Thanks to its robust design and proven performance, it is an essential component in P3 and P4 containment facilities.
Air filtration is based on a highly efficient system using high-quality ULPA filters. The supply air is purified before entering the working area, while the exhaust air undergoes double filtration. Each stage ensures 99.9995% efficiency for particles as small as 0.12 μm, guaranteeing that even the finest particles cannot pass through the containment barriers. This feature is essential for the safe handling of Class I to IV pathogens.
The ergonomics have been carefully designed to offer optimal user comfort. The sloped front panel facilitates a natural working posture, reducing fatigue during long sessions. The work area, made of 304 stainless steel, is not only durable and corrosion-resistant, but also easy to clean and disinfect. Integrated LED lighting, with a light intensity of over 1000 lux, ensures perfect visibility, which is crucial for precision and safety during delicate handling.
Operational safety is enhanced by a comprehensive set of control and alarm systems. The BSC-1500IIIX is equipped with visual and audible alarms that are triggered in the event of abnormal pressure or when filters need to be replaced. An LCD screen allows real-time monitoring of critical parameters, including internal negative pressure (≥120 Pa) and filter status. In the event of a power failure, the built-in memory allows the previous settings to be quickly restored, minimising work interruptions.
Access to the work area is via 800 mm butyl rubber gloves, providing a complete physical barrier between the operator and the samples. The front window is made of 8 mm tempered glass, resistant to impact and ultraviolet rays, thus enhancing safety during handling. To ensure the sterilisation of the work area between sessions, the BSC-1500IIIX is equipped with UV lamps emitting at 253.7 nm, recognised for their effectiveness against most microorganisms.
Safe transfer of materials is made possible by an integrated hermetic pass-through, which allows objects to be inserted and removed without breaking the containment. The washable polyester fibre pre-filter extends the life of the main ULPA filters and optimises overall filtration performance.
