BSM-2351K Bedside Monitor – An intuitive and connected monitoring solution
The BSM-2351K from Nihon Kohden is a high-precision bedside monitor designed to meet the critical needs of intensive care units, operating rooms, emergency departments and demanding hospital environments. It combines advanced technology, intelligent ergonomics and network connectivity to provide continuous, reliable and personalised monitoring of adult, paediatric and neonatal patients.
Featuring a 10.4-inch TFT colour touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, the BSM-2351K allows clear, simultaneous viewing of up to 5 waveforms. It monitors seven essential vital signs, including ECG, impedance respiration, SpO₂, non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP), temperature and others via the MULTI connector. The latter automatically detects the type of sensor connected (IBP, CO₂, thermistor respiration) and starts measurement without manual intervention, simplifying everyday use.
One of the major innovations of the BSM-2351K is Nihon Kohden's patented PWTT (Pulse Wave Transit Time) technology . This technology automatically triggers a NIBP measurement when a significant change in blood pressure is detected from the pulse wave transit time. This improves clinical responsiveness and enables early detection of haemodynamic instability.
The monitor is also designed for hospital mobility, with a battery life of 3 hours, ideal for intra-hospital transfers. It is compatible with Nihon Kohden's LS-NET network, enabling seamless integration with central monitors and hospital information systems via an HL7 gateway (optional). The interbed function allows data from other beds connected to the network to be viewed, facilitating multi-patient monitoring.
The user interface is intuitive thanks to the touchscreen, customisable keys, handwritten patient name entry and enlarged digital display for remote reading. The BSM-2351K also offers features such as multi-template arrhythmia analysis, alarm history (up to 200 events), OCRG display for neonatology, and 24-hour trend viewing.
