Citadel 2000: Performance and Reliability in Tissue Processing
The Thermo Scientific Citadel 2000 is a carousel tissue processor distinguished by its compact design and proven performance. This device has become a trusted choice for thousands of laboratories worldwide due to its exceptional processing quality, ease of use, and remarkable chemical resistance.
The Citadel 2000 is equipped with a powerful and effective agitation system that automatically raises tissue samples from their reagent containers every ten minutes before reimmersing them. This feature ensures uniform and high-quality sample processing. Additionally, an optional vacuum unit is available to facilitate rapid and efficient wax infiltration of samples. With ten reagent containers and two wax baths, each with programmable immersion times, the Citadel 2000 enables optimal processing of a variety of tissue types.
Operation of the Citadel 2000 is simplified by a unique touch keypad that allows programming and control of specific processing cycles. Up to four complete schedules can be stored, recalled, and monitored on a digital display. The delayed start function, enabled by a real-time clock, allows programming of the processing start time with a delay of up to nine days. Loading and unloading of samples is made easy with a specially designed tissue basket hanger that clips securely into the hood interior and can be removed just as easily. Handles on reagent containers at each station allow for easy and safe reagent changes. Users can choose between random baskets holding up to 70 cassettes or organizer baskets holding up to 110 cassettes. Smooth surfaces and a contoured design facilitate easy cleaning of the device.
Safety is a priority with the Citadel 2000. An integral fume hood significantly reduces the release of vapors, creating a safer and more pleasant laboratory environment. Easy reagent container changes minimize the risk of spillage and operator exposure to harmful reagents. Even in the event of a power failure, samples remain in a high-vapor environment when raised above a reagent container, reducing the risk of drying out.
The Citadel 2000 offers excellent chemical resistance and is approved for use with a variety of reagents, including fixatives such as formalin, formol saline, buffered formalin, and Bouin's fluid; dehydrants such as methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone; clearing agents such as xylene, toluene, chloroform, and Shandon xylene substitute; and paraffin wax of good quality.
