FACSAria Fusion: Precise Cell Sorting and Enhanced Biosafety for Research Applications
The BD FACSAria™ Fusion combines BD’s proven cell sorting technology with a fully integrated biosafety solution, making it ideal for research laboratories seeking reliable performance, advanced multicolor detection, and protection from potential aerosol exposure.
At the core of the system is a gel-coupled quartz flow cell, designed to ensure optimal collection of fluorescent light. The system’s elliptically focused laser beams (9 x 65 μm) deliver high sensitivity, especially for dimly stained populations. It supports up to 6 laser wavelengths and allows for 18-color simultaneous detection.
The BD FACSDiva™ software platform, shared across BD instruments, enables precise control of the system, with intuitive setup wizards, unlimited inter- and intra-laser compensation, and smart experiment management through indexed cell sorting.
For biosafety, the instrument is available with a Class II A2 biosafety cabinet, co-developed with The Baker Company, and compliant with NSF 49, EN 12469, and AS 2252.2–2009 standards. This hood can also be field-upgraded. For configurations without the hood, an independent Aerosol Management System (AMS) ensures effective aerosol evacuation in a sealed chamber equipped with HEPA or ULPA filters.
Additional features include a bubble detection system, automated sorting with BD Accudrop™ technology, easily interchangeable nozzles (70 to 130 μm), and compatibility with a wide variety of tubes, plates, and multi-well formats. Temperature control options are also available for both sample and collection tubes.
Its optimized architecture ensures low operating costs, with air-cooled lasers requiring no special power supply or external cooling systems. The FACSAria™ Fusion is designed to meet the evolving needs of laboratories by offering safety, precision, and scalability.
