CF-Spotter for automated, contactless sample preparation for MALDI-TOF analysis
SunChrom's CF-Spotter is designed to transform the way laboratories prepare samples for MALDI-TOF analysis. This fully automated system performs contactless application of matrix solutions and formic acid onto MALDI targets, ensuring maximum accuracy while eliminating the risk of cross-contamination between samples. Unlike manual methods, which are often time-consuming and prone to errors, the CF-Spotter greatly simplifies the analytical workflow.
With two separate reagent inputs, it not only applies the MALDI matrix but also performs formic acid pretreatment, all in an automated and programmable manner. The user can select the desired preparation mode – matrix only or matrix with formic acid – and choose the samples to be processed with just a few clicks. Once these steps have been defined, the device takes care of everything else, including rapid drying of the spots, which is essential for optimal matrix crystallisation.
The CF-Spotter is compatible with all types of MALDI targets from leading manufacturers, including Bruker Biotyper® and Biomerieux VITEK® MS. It can accommodate two targets simultaneously, making it ideal for high-throughput laboratory environments. Its intuitive user interface on a Windows laptop or tablet makes it easy to use, even for non-specialised staff. Each spot is prepared in just one second, enabling unrivalled productivity.
Another advantage is the elimination of expensive consumables such as pipette tips, thanks to the contactless application. This principle significantly reduces recurring costs and the laboratory's environmental footprint. In addition, the HCCA (α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) matrix supplied by SunChrom is available in 10 mL glass bottles, avoiding frequent refills and ensuring optimal purity.
With its compact size, low weight and standard energy consumption, the CF-Spotter fits easily into any laboratory space. It represents a cost-effective investment that reduces workload, improves the quality of results and ensures consistent reproducibility – essential criteria in modern microbiology, molecular biology and clinical research laboratories.
