Complete system for compliant natural gas analysis according to ASTM D1945
Young In's ChroZen ASTM D1945 is an analysis system designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the ASTM D1945 method used to determine components in natural gases. These gases, composed mainly of methane but also of light hydrocarbons and permanent gases such as oxygen, nitrogen or carbon dioxide, require rigorous identification because their commercial value depends directly on their chemical composition.
This device is based on a gas chromatograph (GC) incorporating five columns – including Molsieve 5A, Porapak Q and GasPro columns – enabling reliable and reproducible separation of components. Three detectors are integrated into the system: a flame ionisation detector (FID) and two thermal conductivity detectors (TCD), combined with four configurable switching valves. This architecture enables analysis in a single injection, reducing handling time while increasing accuracy.
The ChroZen system is equipped with a dual sampling loop, which guarantees synchronous and reproducible injection. Automated valve switching time management directs gases to the appropriate columns, taking into account the behaviour of each compound (elution temperature, need for backflush for certain heavy hydrocarbons, etc.). This prevents interference between analytes while maintaining the sensitivity required for the detection of low-concentration gases.
The analysis covers a wide range of gaseous components, from rare gases such as helium and hydrogen to heavier hydrocarbons such as isopentane, with detectable concentrations as low as 0.01%. The system includes all predefined parameters and an embedded method file, making it easy to use and reducing the risk of errors during handling.
This product is designed for quality control laboratories, operators in the energy sector and manufacturers who want accurate, reliable and reproducible results for their complex gas mixtures. Thanks to its configuration optimised for the ASTM D1945 standard, the ChroZen saves time while ensuring regulatory compliance.
