The Heracell VIOS 250i is a direct-heat CO₂ incubator specifically developed to meet the needs of laboratories handling sensitive, high-volume cell cultures. Its regulation algorithm enables rapid recovery—under 10 minutes—after door openings, reducing environmental fluctuations that may affect cell growth. The variable-speed fan stops during door openings to minimize external air exchange, then temporarily increases its speed once the door is closed to quickly restore optimal conditions.
The Heracell VIOS 250i is also designed with contamination prevention in mind. It combines an ISO Class 5 HEPA filter, a 180°C high-temperature sterilization system validated by third-party testing to eliminate all types of microorganisms (bacteria, spores, molds, and mycoplasma), and an interior chamber available in electropolished stainless steel or 100% solid copper, known for its natural antimicrobial properties. This integrated Steri-Run™ sterilization cycle is fully automated and completed in less than 12 hours—without the need to disassemble any internal components.
An integrated, covered humidification reservoir maintains stable humidity levels above 93% without condensation, thereby preventing bacterial growth. It is easily accessible for filling and draining without removing shelves or cell cultures.
For monitoring and control, the iCAN™ touchscreen interface offers intuitive navigation with real-time parameter display, data logging, alarms, and trend graphs. It supports multilingual configuration and allows integration with remote monitoring systems via USB or optional 4–20 mA output.
The Heracell VIOS 250i can be equipped with either the IR180Si infrared CO₂ sensor or the TC180 thermal conductivity sensor, depending on user requirements. The MEMS-based IR180Si sensor is temperature-resistant and offers long-term stability. It remains unaffected by variations in temperature, humidity, oxygen levels, or barometric pressure.
For applications requiring precise oxygen control, a tri-gas version is available, allowing simulation of hypoxic (1–21% O₂) or hyperoxic (5–90% O₂) environments—essential for specific types of cellular research.
