Medical CO₂ Incubator INCO153med: Reliable Control for Your Cell Cultures
The Memmert INCO153med CO₂ incubator ensures a stable and controlled cultivation environment, perfectly suited to the demanding needs of research in cell biology, medicine, pharmacology, and microbiology. Designed for the in vitro cultivation of cells, tissues, and bacteria, it offers precise regulation of temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide concentration.
With a usable volume of 153 liters, the INCO153med provides optimized space for maintaining cultures under consistent physiological conditions. The interior is entirely made of stainless steel (material 1.4301 – equivalent to ASTM 304), reinforced with deep-drawn ribs for greater stability, and hermetically welded for effortless cleaning. It comes equipped with three perforated stainless steel shelves and a stainless steel water tray, ensuring uniform humidity distribution.
The heating system spans six sides (lateral walls, bottom, back, and door), effectively preventing condensation on internal surfaces. This advanced technology ensures a homogeneous, turbulence-free atmosphere through gentle, non-directional air circulation. Precise temperature control ranges from +8 °C above ambient to +50 °C. Two Pt100 temperature sensors continuously monitor conditions and automatically take over in case of failure.
Relative humidity is maintained between 88% and 97%, displayed digitally with 0.5% resolution and 1% setpoint accuracy. Atmospheric control is managed via an infrared CO₂ sensor with automatic self-calibration. CO₂ concentration can be set from 0% to 10%, with a resolution of 0.1%. Gas supply is automatically interrupted when the door is opened to prevent unwanted fluctuations inside the chamber.
The user interface is clear and intuitive, allowing real-time monitoring of key parameters: temperature, CO₂ level, humidity, time, and day of the week. A 7-day programmable timer with real-time clock allows for flexible scheduling. In case of power failure, all programmed settings are retained.
Safety is ensured through multiple protective mechanisms: a mechanical temperature limiter (Class 1 according to DIN 12880), visual and audible alarms, the AutoSAFETY system in case of deviations, and an integrated self-diagnostic error control. Alarms are triggered immediately in case of abnormal conditions such as over/under temperature, excessive CO₂ concentration, empty water reservoir, depleted gas cylinder, or open door.
The INCO153med also includes a STERICard for automated chamber sterilization at 160 °C for 4 hours—without removing sensors or metal components.
Engineered for high-standard laboratories, the INCO153med combines precision, reliability, and easy maintenance, meeting the requirements of rigorous scientific protocols. It is perfectly suited for hospital, academic, and specialized laboratory environments handling sensitive cultures.
