Concentrator 5301: a Reliable and Accurate Concentrator for Medical and Clinical Applications
The Eppendorf Concentrator 5301 model has been designed to meet the rigorous requirements of medical, clinical and research laboratories. This system enables the controlled evaporation of liquids from 0.5 ml to 2.0 ml microtubes, with rotors suitable for different capacities. It is available in two versions: a basic version that can be connected to an external vacuum pump, and a complete version with a chemical-resistant membrane pump. This modularity allows users to choose a configuration that suits their existing infrastructure and specific applications.
The Concentrator 5301 operates on a vacuum evaporation process, with or without heating. Three temperature levels (30, 45 or 60 °C) are available, or the user can opt for evaporation without temperature increase, which is ideal for heat-sensitive samples. Three dedicated functions allow optimal adaptation to the nature of the solvents: one for alcoholic solutions, another for high vapour pressure solvents, and a third for aqueous solutions. A desiccator function is also integrated for situations requiring air evacuation without rotor rotation.
Thanks to its robust and chemically resistant design, this concentrator can be used safely to evaporate potentially corrosive liquids, provided that the necessary precautions are taken (use of a solvent trap, environment under a fume hood, etc.). Its compatibility with freeze dryers and its capacity to handle up to 96 x 2.0 ml tubes ensure high efficiency in biological or chemical sample concentration procedures. The device reaches a maximum speed of 1,400 rpm and a centrifugal force of up to 240 x g, while remaining quiet and compact.
This concentrator is particularly recommended for medical diagnostic laboratories, molecular biology units, university hospitals and clinical research institutes. It guarantees consistent results, intuitive handling and a small footprint on the bench. The Concentrator 5301 is a high-performance, safe solution for healthcare professionals handling sensitive or valuable samples.
