TetraCon325 Conductivity Sensor – Precision Water Quality Measurement
The TetraCon325 by WTW is an advanced conductivity sensor designed to deliver precise and reliable water quality measurements in a variety of field and laboratory applications. Engineered for robust performance, the TetraCon325 combines durable materials with a sophisticated four-electrode measurement principle, making it suitable for monitoring conductivity across a wide range of conditions, including natural water bodies, wastewater treatment, fish farming, and groundwater analysis.
At the heart of the TetraCon325 is its four-electrode measurement design, which provides superior accuracy and stability in conductivity readings. The sensor has a cell constant of 0.475 cm⁻¹ ±1.5%, ensuring consistent measurement performance across a broad range, from low conductivity levels of 1 µS/cm to high values reaching up to 2 S/cm. This makes the sensor versatile enough for diverse water quality monitoring needs, from ultra-pure water to highly contaminated samples.
The sensor also features an integrated NTC 30 temperature sensor, which delivers fast and accurate temperature compensation. The NTC 30 thermistor, with a precision of ±0.2 K, allows for rapid adjustment to changes in temperature, enhancing the reliability of conductivity readings in varying environmental conditions. The temperature range for measurement spans from 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F), covering most typical field and laboratory settings.
Durability is a key aspect of the TetraCon325's design. The sensor is constructed with a robust epoxy shaft and graphite electrodes, offering both chemical resistance and mechanical stability. The thermistor enclosure is crafted from POM, ensuring long-term durability. The sensor is available in different cable lengths, ranging from 1.5 meters to 20 meters, catering to various depths and measurement scenarios. The shaft diameter of 6 mm and small bend radius (50 mm for fixed installations and 80 mm for flexible use) make it easy to deploy in different setups.
The TetraCon325 is designed to withstand challenging environmental conditions. It features an IP68 rating for the sensor itself, providing waterproof protection up to a depth of 2 bar (approximately 20 meters of water). When connected with its cable plug, the protection drops slightly to IP67, which still ensures safe use in splash-prone environments. The sensor is optimized for a maximum depth of immersion of up to 100°C (when considering the sensor shaft alone), and a recommended maximum operating temperature for the entire sensor and cable up to 80°C (176°F).
Designed for versatility, the TetraCon325 can be used in any operating position, making it suitable for both vertical and horizontal deployment. It is also compatible with a wide range of WTW instruments, providing flexibility for users to pair the sensor with various data loggers and controllers for comprehensive water quality monitoring solutions.
For optimum performance, the sensor should be stored in air at temperatures ranging from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). The response time of the temperature sensor is swift, with a t99 value of less than 20 seconds, ensuring that measurements are both quick and reliable.
The TetraCon325's construction, measurement accuracy, and environmental resistance make it ideal for professionals engaged in environmental monitoring, water treatment, and laboratory analysis. Whether conducting routine checks in fish farming or performing detailed assessments of groundwater, the TetraCon325 offers dependable results that meet the needs of a wide range of water quality applications.
