C6-3: a Versatile Probe for Demanding Examinations
The Philips C6-3 probe is designed to offer great diagnostic flexibility in a wide range of clinical settings. It operates in a frequency range from 6 to 3 MHz, allowing adequate tissue penetration while ensuring sufficient image resolution for reliable examinations. The 50 mm radius of curvature helps optimise contact between the transducer and the skin, facilitating the acquisition of stable, usable images, even in complex anatomical areas.
Thanks to its narrow footprint design, the C6-3 is particularly useful for intercostal imaging, where space between the ribs is limited. This is essential in emergency situations or thoracoabdominal examinations in patients who are difficult to image. It supports a wide range of imaging modes, including directional pulsed Doppler, colour Doppler and M-mode, enabling detailed assessment of blood flow and tissue movement.
The C6-3 transducer also incorporates Philips' proprietary technologies such as SonoCT (spatial component imaging), XRES (image noise reduction) and Freehand 3D (volume reconstruction without an external sensor), enhancing image clarity and fidelity. The addition of panoramic mode provides a wider view that is useful for long anatomical structures or monitoring extensive pathologies.
Versatile, it is designed for practitioners in abdominal, gynaecological, paediatric, urological and anaesthetic imaging. It is also suitable for emergency situations, thanks to its manoeuvrability and ability to provide rapidly usable data. An optional multi-angle biopsy kit is available for image-guided procedures, improving accuracy during sampling or injections.
The ergonomics of the C6-3 probe have also been designed to meet the demands of everyday clinical use. Its comfortable grip and light weight allow for prolonged use without excessive fatigue for the operator, particularly during successive or prolonged examinations.
