Xylem CR 2200 – Thermoreactor for laboratory digestion
The Xylem CR 2200 is a dry-heating thermoreactor specifically designed for the controlled digestion of reaction cells for photometric analysis. With a capacity of 12 cells with a diameter of 16 ± 0.2 mm, it meets the requirements of laboratories seeking both stable thermal performance and safe handling. The device is equipped with a precise thermoblock, protected by a safety cover, and offers 8 predefined temperature and time programmes , ranging from 100 °C to 150 °C for reactions lasting from 20 to 120 minutes. Thanks to its robust construction and compact design, it fits easily on a bench top and withstands laboratory working conditions. Its control accuracy of ±1 °C and thermal stability of ±0.5 K ensure reliable results.
Use and operation in the laboratory
The CR 2200 is designed for simple and intuitive use, with a six-key control panel, a clear display and indicator lights showing the operating status. The built-in programmes allow digestion cycles to be started quickly without complex settings. The user can select automatic or manual start of the reaction timer, ensuring flexibility of use according to the protocols in place. The device heats up quickly, reaching 100°C in about 5 minutes and 148°C in 10 minutes, optimising analysis productivity. Its closed design limits the risk of splashing and burns, and the cells can only be heated with their screw caps in place, in accordance with safety requirements. The device also features overheating protection, set at 190°C ± 5°C, to prevent damage to samples or the device.
Safety, maintenance and durability
Safety is at the heart of the CR 2200's design. The device requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, including goggles, gloves and protective clothing, especially when handling corrosive or high-temperature substances. The ventilation slots must remain unobstructed to prevent internal overheating. Completely maintenance-free, the CR 2200 only requires regular cleaning of the housing with a damp cloth, avoiding aggressive solvents. If cell contents are splashed into the thermoblock, a specific procedure allows for safe cleaning after cooling.
The device complies with international safety standards EN and UL, has an IP20 protection rating and can operate in an ambient temperature range of +5°C to +40°C. Constructed from robust materials such as PC/ABS, PA66 and glass fibre reinforced PBT, it ensures a long service life even in intensive use.
