CT50 from Huber – Cold trap for laboratory applications
The Huber CT50 is a cold trap designed to provide precise and reliable temperature control over a wide range from -50 to +50°C. Its design is based on an integrated air refrigeration system using the natural refrigerant R-290, which is recognised for its minimal impact on the environment thanks to its extremely low global warming potential. Cooling is fast and efficient, reaching -45 °C in just 2.5 minutes from 20 °C, and -50 °C in 4 minutes. This performance makes it ideal for solvent condensation, vapour capture and vacuum pump protection.
Robust and ergonomic construction
Designed to last, the CT50 is made of AISI 304 (V2A) stainless steel, ensuring optimal corrosion resistance and perfect hygiene for laboratory environments. Its 220 mm stainless steel probe with a diameter of 48 mm ensures maximum efficiency for heat exchange. The device is equipped with two ergonomic side handles for easy handling and movement. Compact, it takes up little space on the workbench with dimensions of 330 x 450 x 576 mm, while its net weight of 32 kg reflects its solid construction.
Simple control and practical features
The CT50 is equipped with the OLÉ controller, which combines modern control technology with intuitive operation. It has a large, bright OLED display that shows the setpoint, internal temperature and the minimum and maximum values reached simultaneously. Menu navigation is quick and easy, making the unit accessible even to novice users. Practical features include automatic restart after a power failure and connectivity via USB and RS232 interfaces for data monitoring and communication. A Pt100 sensor connection option is available ex-works for displaying the process temperature.
Reliability and compliance with standards
Classified in safety category III/FL according to DIN 12876, the CT50 offers optimum protection for the user and the samples being handled. It operates continuously, ensuring that the required temperatures are maintained. Electromagnetic compatibility is guaranteed in accordance with EN55011, and the equipment complies with all applicable European and American regulations, including the US-SNAP directive.
Applications and adaptability
The versatile CT50 is perfectly suited to the needs of research laboratories, industrial facilities and production environments. It can be used for condensing vapours during distillation processes, to protect vacuum systems or to trap specific gases under controlled conditions. Its modular design allows it to accommodate various glass accessories, optimising its use according to the specific requirements of each application.
