Defender 520 from MesaLabs – Precision primary flow meter for gases
The MesaLabs Defender 520 is a reference instrument designed to reliably measure the volumetric flow rate of gases while simultaneously measuring temperature and pressure. Thanks to proven DryCal® technology, it guarantees exceptional accuracy of ±1% of the reading, ensuring full traceability to NIST standards. Available in several ranges (520L, 520M, 520H), it is suitable for a wide range of applications, from low-flow sampling pump calibration to high-flow systems used in industry. Performance and versatility for all flow measurement applications
The Defender 520 can operate in pressure or suction mode, depending on the configuration of the device to be calibrated. It offers three distinct measurement modes: single reading, sequence (burst) or continuous, allowing the calibration process to be adapted to specific requirements. The user can choose from several units of measurement for flow (mL/min, L/min, cc/min, cf/min), temperature (°C or °F) and pressure (mmHg, kPa, PSI), offering great flexibility of use. The 520 model stands out thanks to the simultaneous display of these three parameters on its backlit graphic LCD screen, with a zoom option for improved readability. Thanks to its data port, it communicates easily with DryCal Pro software, enabling automated acquisition and archiving of results in Microsoft Excel®. Its compatibility with the SKC CalChek® interface also allows automatic calibration of certain specific pumps, simplifying repetitive operations.
Reliability, traceability and simplified maintenance
Designed in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, the Defender 520 meets the most stringent metrology standards. The device is powered by a 6 V rechargeable lead-acid battery, providing up to 8 hours of autonomy without backlighting. An energy-saving mode automatically turns the device off after a period of inactivity, optimising its operating time in the field. Routine maintenance is made easy by built-in features such as an internal leak test, which allows you to quickly check the integrity of the instrument in case of doubt or after an impact.
Optional accessories, such as a reinforced carrying case, are available to protect the device when travelling.
