Direct-Q 3 UV: A compact, high-performance system for laboratory-grade water
Merck Millipore's Direct-Q® 3 UV is the ideal solution for laboratories that want to produce high-quality pure and ultrapure water from a simple tap water supply. This compact system, which integrates pre-treatment,reverse osmosis, final polishing and UV disinfection stages, can be used for a wide range of scientific applications, while optimising workspace thanks to its all-in-one design.
The system is capable of delivering 3 litres of pure water per hour, meeting the daily needs of small laboratories or research units requiring up to 50 litres of water per day. The ultrapure water is available at an instantaneous flow rate of more than 0.5 litres per minute, allowing the necessary containers to be filled quickly without interruption.
One of the major advantages of the Direct-Q® 3 UV is the integration of a dual wavelength UV lamp (185/254 nm). This technology effectively reduces the organic load (TOC < 5 ppb) for sensitive applications such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and eliminates bacteria, contributing to water of impeccable microbiological purity.
The system is also equipped with SmartPak® cartridges, which combine pre-treatment, reverse osmosis and final polishing functions in a single, easy-to-replace format. This simplicity of maintenance reduces maintenance time and minimises handling errors. Cartridges can be changed in a matter of minutes without the need for special tools.
The integrated 6-litre tank ensures immediate availability of purified water, even during periods of high demand. The system automatically recirculates water when not in use, maintaining optimal quality without waste.
In terms of ergonomics, the Direct-Q® 3 UV offers an intuitive colour display showing key system parameters: water quality, consumable status, alarms and maintenance alerts. For even more flexible installation, a remote dispenser can be added, allowing ultra-pure water to be dispensed up to two metres from the production unit, on a bench or wall-mounted.
