Foss DT 220 – A high-capacity digestion system for Kjeldahl and chemical analyses
The Foss DT 220 is part of the Labtec™ range, a series of digestion equipment designed for high performance and increased safety in Kjeldahl, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and trace metal analysis via AAS or ICP. This device stands out for its ability to process up to 20 samples simultaneously in 250 ml tubes, offering an ideal solution for high-throughput laboratories.
With a temperature range of up to 440°C and exceptional thermal stability (± 1°C at 400°C), the DT 220 guarantees homogeneous and reproducible digestion. It can process solid samples up to 5 g or liquid samples up to 15 ml. This versatility makes it compatible with a wide variety of matrices: food products, raw materials, industrial effluents and environmental samples.
The DT 220 is operated via an intuitive front panel interface. The user can easily program the digestion time (from 1 to 999 minutes per step) and temperature, while the device automatically signals the end of the cycle or any anomalies with adjustable audible alarms. This control system guarantees excellent reproducibility and minimises human error.
In terms of safety and compliance, the DT 220 meets the requirements of good laboratory practice (GLP). It can be connected to fume management systems, including extraction collectors and the SR 210 scrubber. The latter neutralises the acid vapours generated during digestion, ensuring optimum protection of the working environment and personnel. The DT 220 is also compatible with reflux heads for chemical applications requiring condensation.
Its compact design (300 x 600 x 140 mm) and weight of 18 kg make it easy to integrate into a bench top. In addition, the device's thermal insulation limits heat dissipation, contributing to a more comfortable working environment while reducing energy consumption.
The system is compatible with different types of digestion tubes (straight, volumetric, ball joint) and a wide range of FOSS accessories. Kjeltabs – tablets containing salts and catalysts – further simplify Kjeldahl digestion operations by standardising dosages.
