Thermo Fisher Scientific DX-120 tanks: a compact solution for ion analysis
The DX-120 from Thermo Fisher Scientific is an ion chromatograph designed forisocratic analysis applications using conductivity detection. Integrating the pump, detection cell and injection valve in a compact format, it is optimised for easy installation and operation in modern laboratories.
The instrument can be controlled locally via its front panel LCD display or remotely via the DX-LAN interface and PeakNet software. The DX-120 is also compatible with limited TTL signal commands, further enhancing its adaptability to automated systems.
The system pump is a single piston, constant flow type, offering a range of 0.5 to 4.5 mL/min. It is equipped with an eluent saving mode that automatically reduces the flow rate to 1/20th after 90 minutes of inactivity. The operating pressure can reach 28 MPa, ensuring high robustness for repeated analyses.
The DX-120 offers a choice of two detection cells: the standard CDM-3 cell and the high-performance cell integrated into the DS4 Detection Stabiliser. The standard cell uses an inert polymer body and 316 stainless steel electrodes, with an active volume of 1.25 µL, while the DS4 cell offers a reduced volume of 1.0 µL and precise temperature control between 30°C and 45°C.
Signal stability is enhanced by automatic temperature compensation and, if used, by the DS4 thermostatic chamber, which maintains a constant temperature, eliminating the impact of ambient fluctuations.
The fluidic path is optimised to limit dispersion and ensure a fast and accurate response. The DX-120 can be configured as a single column or dual column version ( ) with a switching valve for eluent or column selection.
Helium-pressurised eluent reservoirs are recommended to prevent bubble formation in the hydraulic circuit, which contributes to the quality and repeatability of the analyses.
