EasyPlate EasySep: Column-Free Cell Separation System for 96-Well Plates
The EasyPlate EasySep from Stemcell is a laboratory magnet for column-free immunomagnetic cell separation in biomedical research. Built in an anodised aluminium housing, it incorporates rare earth magnetic elements that produce a high-gradient magnetic field. This field is sufficient to isolate cells labelled with EasySep magnetic particles without the need for filtration columns, simplifying the workflow and reducing cell loss.
This device is designed to accommodate a 96-well round-bottom plate for cell culture. It is particularly suitable for handling small volumes, especially for separation protocols requiring parallel processing of multiple samples. It can process up to 2 × 10⁷ mouse spleen cells or 1 × 10⁷ human PBMCs per well, providing a suitable solution for researchers handling rare or delicate cells.
The EasyPlate EasySep is only compatible with certain EasySep cocktails, depending on the target cell type. It is therefore essential to follow the instructions in the specific protocol associated with each kit. The integrity of the process also depends on the compatibility of the plate used with the magnetic support structure, as some plates may compromise the efficiency of the separation if they are not perfectly flat.
Easy to maintain, the system should be cleaned with distilled water and then alcohol after each use, and disinfected with a diluted bleach solution. It is important never to immerse the device in order to preserve its metal components.
Thanks to its simple and effective design, the EasyPlate EasySep facilitates handling by reducing the number of technical steps, which limits the risk of sample loss or contamination. It fits easily into standard workflows in immunology, cell biology and haematology research laboratories, particularly when enriching or purifying specific populations from complex suspensions.
