The Eclipse series of optical refractometers from Bellingham + Stanley, designed and manufactured in Germany by Xylem, offers unrivalled accuracy for analysing the concentrations of liquids and solids. Robust, waterproof (IP65) and easy to use, these portable instruments cover a wide range of applications, from sugar control in °Brix to the measurement of antifreeze, starch or salinity. Their ergonomic design, reliable calibration at 20°C and easy maintenance make them the benchmark choice for laboratories, food processing industries, beverage producers and environmental applications.

Description

Eclipse Series Refractometers – Professional optical precision from Xylem

Eclipse refractometers are precision instruments designed to meet the concentration analysis requirements of professionals. Manufactured in Germany by Xylem, these portable devices are robust, reliable, easy to use and designed to operate in demanding environments, whether in the laboratory, factory or in the field.

Each model in the range is specifically calibrated to measure a well-defined range, whether in °Brix, refractive index, percentage of salinity or volume of antifreeze. This diversity makes it possible to meet the varied needs of sectors such as agri-food, viticulture, cosmetics, automotive and industrial applications.

Eclipse meters work by measuring the refraction of light through a liquid or solid sample. To do this, a drop or thin slice of the product is placed on a high-quality optical prism. The user then views a graduated scale in the eyepiece, adjusting the focus using a focusing ring. The boundary between the light and dark areas indicates the measured value.

The Eclipse is designed with ergonomics and ease of use in mind. Thanks to its fold-down light cover, analysis can be carried out quickly and without error. The instrument is waterproof (IP65 rating) and therefore resistant to liquid splashes and dust. Its robust design allows for regular use without compromising the accuracy of the results.

Calibration at 20°C is simple and accessible, using distilled water for low Brix models or an adjustment screw for high concentration versions. This calibration ensures reliable measurements despite variations in ambient temperature, which is essential for quality analysis.

The Eclipse series is also compatible with solid samples such as fruit or vegetable slices, making it versatile. Regular cleaning of the prism with water or alcohol ensures the longevity and accuracy of the instrument.

In an environment where measurement reliability and repeatability are crucial, Eclipse refractometers set the standard thanks to their German manufacturing, rigorous quality control and technical support provided by Xylem. Whether you work in a quality control laboratory or in the field, the Eclipse offers clear, fast and reliable readings.
