Picus from Sartorius: A precision electronic pipette designed for comfort and performance
The Picus single-channel electronic pipette from Sartorius represents a major advance in the field of laboratory liquid handling. Developed by an experienced team in collaboration with ergonomists and laboratory technicians, it has been designed to offer an optimal user experience while ensuring remarkable accuracy.
Its ergonomic design is characterised by its light weight (100 to 110 g depending on the model), small size (21.0 to 21.6 cm) and intuitive handling. These features reduce muscle fatigue, especially during prolonged use. The Optiload mechanism ensures safe needle fixation and ejection, while electronic ejection minimises the effort required.
The Picus operates on the principle of air displacement and incorporates a DC motor, an electronic brake and a piston control system. These elements guarantee superior accuracy and precision, even in the most demanding applications. It offers eight pipetting modes (direct, reverse, manual, multi-dispense, dilution, sequential dispensing, multiple aspiration, titration) and several functions that can be activated via the ADV key: counting, mixing, excess volume adjustment, automatic dispensing and the Tracker system for microplates.
The backlit dot matrix display makes it easy to read settings and access adjustments. The adjustment wheel allows quick volume selection, and the function keys provide smooth navigation through the menus. Ten memory locations allow you to save your favourite settings.
The pipette is compatible with Optifit tips and SafetySpace™ filter tips, ensuring optimal performance and reducing the risk of contamination. Models over 10 µl can be equipped with replaceable Safe-Cone filters.
In terms of maintenance, the Picus is easy to clean and sterilise (autoclavable, UV, disinfection). It comes with a universal mains adapter, a tip rack, Safe-Cone filters, autoclavable grease, a quality control certificate and a quick start guide.
