EUP-R54AW-19 Transrectal Probe: Circular Performance for Demanding Diagnostics
The EUP-R54AW-19 transrectal probe from Hitachi is designed for professionals who want to perform rectal ultrasound examinations with high precision. This probe is based on microconvex electronic scanning technology, offering 360-degree imaging. This feature allows it to explore anatomical structures in depth in all directions without the need for repeated repositioning. This image rotation capability is particularly valuable for comprehensive prostate or rectal examinations.
With a centre frequency of 7.5 MHz, the probe provides detailed tissue reproduction, balancing sharpness and penetration in dense areas. It uses the standard principle of ultrasound wave transmission and reception: an electrical signal triggers the transducer to vibrate, which then emits a wave into the tissue. The reflected wave is picked up by the transducer and converted into an image by brightness modulation.
Designed for demanding medical environments, the EUP-R54AW-19 is classified as a Class IIa medical device in accordance with Directive 93/42/EEC. The BF marking guarantees enhanced safety for intracavitary applications. From a technical standpoint, the probe has an insertion length of 190 mm, with a graduation mark to control the depth of insertion, which facilitates positioning during the examination.
The entire device is made of biocompatible and hypoallergenic materials, reducing the risk of skin reactions or sensitivities, especially when a protective sleeve is used. The sleeve, like the contact gel, must be selected with care so as not to alter the surface of the probe. The probe can be disinfected manually or using a washer-disinfector system, using accessories such as the EZU-WB1 waterproof case.
This probe is compatible with various Hitachi ultrasound machines, depending on the software versions available. It must never be completely immersed or exposed to temperatures above 60°C.
