Skyray EXPLORER 5000: comprehensive metal alloy analysis, completely autonomous
The Skyray EXPLORER 5000 is a portable XRF analyser that provides accurate elemental analysis of metals, alloys and raw materials without altering the sample. Designed to meet the demands of industrial and field environments, this portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer can identify up to 40 chemical elements simultaneously, ranging from magnesium (Mg) to uranium (U), with a detection limit of 5 ppm. The device is designed for immediate use on site or in the laboratory, without sample preparation, on solid, liquid or powdered materials.
Thanks to its miniature 50kV/200μA X-ray tube and optional SDD or Fast-SDD detector, the EXPLORER 5000 offers performance comparable to benchtop models. It quickly analyses stainless steels, low-alloy steels, nickel, cobalt, copper, titanium, aluminium, zinc and tungsten alloys, as well as precious metals. Its fast detection time – less than two seconds in most cases – enables reliable continuous inspection, whether for quality control, sorting recycled metals or production analysis.
The device incorporates an intelligent safety system with mechanical locking, a rubber shield to prevent radiation leakage, and automatic tube shutdown when no sample is present. The simple and intuitive software interface offers two modes: operator mode for quick analyses and expert mode for experienced users who want to customise the analysis parameters. Its 5-inch LCD touchscreen can be rotated 360° for optimal comfort, even in low light conditions.
Completely waterproof and dustproof, the EXPLORER 5000 comes with a 9000mAh rechargeable lithium battery (27000mAh option available), providing up to 12 hours of battery life – or up to three days with the extended battery. It also features a GPS module, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for easy geolocation of measurements and data transmission.
This model is recommended for demanding applications such as aerospace, metallurgy, heat treatment, pressure boilers, metal recycling and mechanical manufacturing. Compact (244 x 90 x 330 mm) and lightweight (1.7 kg), it is easy to transport thanks to its reinforced carrying case.
