Rodenstock DNEye® Scanner: A revolution in optical customisation
Human vision is a dynamic system, with the eye moving up to 250,000 times a day, navigating between near, intermediate and far distances while constantly using peripheral vision. However, the majority of progressive lenses available on the market are still based on a reduced, standardised model of the eye, which only reflects reality for around 2% of the population. Rodenstock has decided to overturn this paradigm with its DNEye® Scanner.
The DNEye® Scanner is much more than just a measuring device. It is the technological cornerstone of Rodenstock's B.I.G. Vision™ (Biometric Intelligent Glasses™) philosophy. This device is capable of measuring all the significant biometric parameters of the human eye: axial length, anterior chamber depth, lens power, pupil size in light and night conditions, corneal topography, and low and high degree optical aberrations for both distance and near vision.
Using these measurements, Rodenstock builds an individual biometric model of the eye, unique to each patient. This customised modelling allows for advanced personalisation of ophthalmic lenses, which are calculated based on thousands of specific data points. This data is then digitally transferred to the lens manufacturing process, a unique capability that Rodenstock has mastered entirely.
Rodenstock integrates every measured point into the final lens design. This level of individualisation results in clearer vision at all distances, faster adaptation to progressive lenses, better contrast perception and a significant reduction in blurred areas.
The biometric approach introduced by the DNEye® Scanner is transforming the relationship between opticians, patients and technology. Opticians play a central role in the process, performing a complete scan of their customers' eyes in just a few minutes. This data is then analysed by Rodenstock systems to produce lenses that are customised down to the micrometre. The result is a natural, smooth visual experience that is perfectly tailored to the wearer's lifestyle.
Beyond visual performance, this technology also improves visual comfort in complex situations such as night driving, prolonged reading or intensive screen use. Studies show that over 90% of users of Rodenstock's biometric smart glasses report an immediate improvement in their vision compared to their previous glasses.
The DNEye® Scanner is therefore much more than a diagnostic tool; it represents a radical change in the design of progressive lenses and redefines visual quality standards in modern optics. Thanks to this technology, every eye – and every individual – can finally benefit from a tailor-made optical solution.
