Flexar LC – A liquid chromatography system designed for analytical excellence
PerkinElmer's Flexar LC is the natural evolution of more than three decades of expertise in liquid chromatography. Designed to deliver high performance while ensuring simple and ergonomic operation, this modular system meets the diverse requirements of modern laboratories, whether they are focused on routine analysis or more complex chromatographic applications. It allows users to benefit from both the robustness of a conventional HPLC and the superior performance of a UHPLC, with the ability to seamlessly switch between the two formats thanks to the Flexar architecture.
At the heart of the system, the Flexar LC is based on dual piston pumps capable of withstanding pressures of up to 18,000 psi. This power enables finer and faster separation of compounds, with remarkable reproducibility of retention times. The system incorporates intelligent solvent management with vacuum degassing (3 or 5 channels) and an automatic drainage device, minimising the risk of contamination or leaks. This configuration ensures a safer working environment and uninterrupted operation.
Its automatic sampler, compatible with injection volumes as low as 1 μL, enables fast and accurate injections while reducing sample waste. With three injection modes – full loop, partial fill and μL sampling – it offers great flexibility, particularly in low sample volume or high sensitivity applications. The column compartment is available in standard or thermoelectric (Peltier) versions, ensuring rigorous temperature control from 5 to 90°C.
On the detection side, the Flexar LC offers high-resolution UV/Vis and PDA detectors with data acquisition rates of up to 200 Hz to capture the fastest chromatographic peaks. Modular flow cells and selectable light sources (deuterium or tungsten) allow the system to be adjusted to the specific requirements of the analysis. The Chromera software, specially developed for UHPLC, offers intuitive navigation, real-time method editing tools and data visualisation (2D/3D).
This system also significantly reduces solvent consumption and waste, contributing to a more environmentally friendly and economical laboratory approach. Productivity is enhanced by accelerated analytical cycles, reduced maintenance and long-term reliability.
