Description

Revolutionize Eye Care with Retina Scan Duo 2: Advanced OCT and Angiography for Precise Diagnostics and Multimodal Imaging

The Retina Scan Duo 2, an advanced detection tool integrating fundus imaging and autofluorescence OCT, features a 3D eye tracking system and automation to streamline the measurement process. Designed for user-friendly operation, the device continuously tracks the patient's eye in real-time, ensuring precise pupil alignment, retinal focus, and image capture (OCT + photo). The introduction of the innovative Retina Map scan, consolidating macular and papillary analysis into a single capture, positions the Retina Scan Duo 2 as an ideal choice for routine use in screening and standardizing examinations. The device offers the flexibility to adjust signal sensitivity (Regular, Fine, or Ultra-Fine mode) for enhanced signal intensity in the presence of media opacity.

Depending on the consultation setup, the device can be conveniently installed on a NIDEK dedicated lifting table (model-dependent) for daily use.

Diverse measurement capabilities are a key feature, with acquisition fields reaching up to 12×9 mm in OCT and 45° in retina photography and autofluorescence. This facilitates multimodal analysis of the fundus and enables early detection of specific macular pathologies, thanks to autofluorescence in the green wavelength, which is less absorbed by the macular pigment. For more in-depth analysis, various imaging modalities are available, including multiple OCT slices, averaging up to 50 slices (HD mode), EDI mode for choroid visualization, and photocolor and OCT modes for the anterior segment. Optionally, the AngioScan module complements structural analysis with observation of retinal-choroidal microvascularization.

Upon acquisition, the data is presented on the NAVIS-EX software platform, featuring a dedicated viewer for OCT results and photographs. Thickness maps, total retinal thickness, and ganglion cell complex thickness are displayed and compared to the normative database in 9x9 mm, while nerve fibers of the optic nerve head are presented in 6x6 mm. The software also provides En-Face OCT representation and color photos for measurements such as the papillary Disc and Cup.

The AngioScan module, focusing on OCT-angiography, enables the analysis of retinal and choroid vascularization. Images can be captured either of the macula (Macula Map) or the head of the optic nerve (Disc Map), allowing for differentiated analyses. Segmentations are tailored to the scanned area, with seven differentiated areas on the macula and four on the papilla. The combined display of OCT En-Face and OCT-Angiography, with adjustable depth and scrollable B-scan sections, facilitates a direct correlation between tissue structure and vascularization.

AngioScan results include quantitative analyses, providing additional parameters for diagnosis, such as density and vascular perfusion values for each segmented layer, along with information on the automatically detected central avascular zone (CAZ).
