Agilent G1159A Selection Valve: Flexibility and automation for your chromatography methods
The Agilent G1159A valve is a state-of-the-art solution for laboratories looking to automate column or solvent selection in their HPLC system. Part of the Agilent 1100 series, this 6-position valve offers exceptional analytical flexibility, which is essential for multi-user environments or protocols requiring frequent switching.
The G1159A is fully integrated into the 1100 series CAN communication network. It can be controlled via Agilent ChemStation software, enabling easy configuration, complex sequence programming and real-time monitoring of position status. Whether for method development, validation or managing multiple protocols in parallel, this valve optimises analysis time and significantly reduces manual intervention.
Its robust design uses high-quality materials such asstainless steel and PEEK for parts in contact with liquids, ensuring high chemical and mechanical resistance. It supports pressures up to 35 MPa (345 bar) and flow rates up to 40 mL/min in standard operation, and even up to 100 mL/min without switching. It is ideal for conventional analytical applications while offering a comfortable margin of use for high-flow methods.
The G1159A is easy to install, either on a bench or via the Agilent column organiser. The supplied CAN and power cables ensure reliable connectivity with other 1100 modules. Maintenance is also made easy thanks to the modular design: the stator head and rotor seal can be replaced quickly without complex tools, extending the service life of the device and minimising downtime.
In terms of applications, the G1159A allows, for example, up to six different columns to be connected, enabling simultaneous method development or rapid comparison of analytical conditions. It can also be used to sample various solvents depending on the stages of the analysis. These capabilities make the G1159A a strategic component in demanding analytical platforms.
Its user interface is intuitive, whether via ChemStation or the G1323B manual controller. Options such as automatic switching at the end of analysis or manual synchronisation allow total control over analytical sequences. In addition, the Early Maintenance Feedback (EMF) function provides intelligent monitoring of the switching cycle to prevent premature failure.
The G1159A selection valve is a versatile, durable and high-performance tool that can be adapted to many chromatographic configurations. It helps improve the productivity, accuracy and reliability of HPLC analyses while reducing manual handling and downtime.
