G1160A Agilent - A smart and versatile switching device for HPLC purification applications
The Agilent G1160A 1100 Series Multiple Purpose Switching Valve is an intelligent switching valve designed to improve the flexibility and automation of Agilent chromatography systems, particularly in purification applications where multiple fraction collection is required. With 12 positions and 13 ports, this device allows the liquid flow to be redirected from a single inlet to twelve outlets, or vice versa, making it ideal for controlling multiple fraction collectors in parallel, up to three simultaneously.
This module is fully motorised and operates via an internal microprocessor, managed by a connection via the CAN interface. This allows seamless integration into the Agilent 1100 series purification system. Automatic device recognition by ChemStation software, version A.09.01 or higher, facilitates installation and configuration, making it quick and intuitive to use even for complex analytical systems.
Its robust stainless steel and PEEK design ensures excellent chemical compatibility, while its high-precision internal components guarantee a long service life. Its internal architecture is designed to minimise dead volumes, with optimised flow paths to limit sample dispersion and retention. The maximum operating pressure reaches 207 bar, making it suitable for high-performance conditions.
The G1160A can be mounted directly on the G1383A column organiser using the supplied mounting rail, or placed on a bench near the main system. Its extensive connectivity allows it to be connected to various add-on modules, such as preparative pumps, fraction collectors or microplate injectors.
During analysis, the ChemStation software automatically manages the sequence of fraction collectors. Once the first collector is full, the valve switches to the next one, and so on until all are full. This process ensures optimal throughput without manual intervention. If necessary, the system status is clearly indicated by indicator lights on the module housing, signalling standby, error or active operation.
The G1160A is designed for easy maintenance. The valve head can be easily removed and replaced using special tools included in the kits, allowing for quick maintenance without extensive training. Users can also update the module's firmware to benefit from the latest software improvements, ensuring the device's technological longevity in a constantly evolving analytical environment.
