Agilent G2565BA Microarray Scanner System: a benchmark solution for gene expression analysis
The Agilent G2565BA microarray scanner is part of the suite of genomics tools developed by Agilent Technologies. This laser-induced fluorescence instrument is specially designed to read microarrays deposited on standard 1-inch by 3-inch slides. It measures the fluorescence intensity of labelled nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) bound to probes on the microarrays, enabling accurate quantification and comparative analysis of gene expression.
The G2565BA stands out for its ability to simultaneously detect two fluorescent dyes, such as Cyanine-3 (Cy-3) and Cyanine-5 (Cy-5), facilitating differential gene expression studies. It is optimised for low noise performance and a wide dynamic range in the emission channels of Cy-3 (550–610 nm) and Cy-5 (650–750 nm). The system offers pixel placement accuracy of less than one pixel and overall uniformity of less than 5% coefficient of variation, ensuring consistent results across the entire scanned area.
With a carousel that holds up to 48 slides and a redesigned autoloader arm, the G2565BA enables automated sample management, reducing manual handling and the risk of errors. Dynamic focusing algorithms ensure consistent focus during scanning, even when optical conditions change slightly from slide to slide. Hardware improvements over the previous model (G2565AA), such as the carousel indexing system and direct drive motor, provide increased reliability and reduced loading failures.
Scan Control software, combined with Feature Extraction, provides comprehensive management of scan parameters, optional image compression to reduce storage space, and the ability to perform extended dynamic range (XDR) scans. This feature scans each slide twice at different sensitivities to maximise the capture of weak and intense signals on the same microarray.
Designed for demanding research environments, the G2565BA is ideal for laboratories working on transcriptomics projects, biomarker studies and high-throughput expression profiling analyses. Its robust design, advanced optical system and user-friendly interface make it an ideal choice for obtaining reliable and reproducible data, which is essential in molecular biology and biotechnology applications.
