Microspeed® uni GD684 – Mini-Line motor gun for high-precision surgical applications
The GD684 is a motor gun developed by BBraun as part of the universal Microspeed® uni system for demanding surgical procedures such as orthopaedics, traumatology, neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Thanks to its compact design, robust construction and technical performance, the GD684 is a benchmark tool for practitioners seeking to combine power, ergonomics and precision in the operating theatre.
The GD684 operates without a foot pedal, activated directly by a double trigger located on the handle. The lower trigger adjusts the motor speed in proportion to the trigger travel, while the upper trigger changes the direction of rotation (left/right) or activates specific modes. As standard, the motor is configured for clockwise rotation; counterclockwise rotation triggers an acoustic signal. To reverse the direction, simply press the upper trigger while the lower trigger is already depressed. This intuitive design allows for easy handling while ensuring patient safety.
In terms of operating modes, the GD684 offers two functions: oscillating mode and tapping mode. Either mode can be selected via the "Instruction" menu on the control system and then activated by holding the upper trigger for three seconds. In these modes, the lower trigger triggers a precise angular rotation: oscillating (alternating rotation with the same amplitude in both directions) or tapping (alternating rotation with a greater angle in the clockwise direction than in the counterclockwise direction). These functions are ideal for operations involving the insertion of pins or surgical screws.
Safety is enhanced by a mechanical lock on the upper trigger, which prevents accidental activation. In addition, a protective sheath is supplied with the device to secure Kirschner pins during insertion. The GD684 motor does not require an external cable, as it is directly connected to the GD670 control unit of the Microspeed® uni system.
Compatible with the mini-Line range of accessories, the GD684 can be used with a wide range of surgical tools. It also features adjustable speed settings via the control panel touchscreen and easy coupling to accessories.
